Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Jul 12, 2008 9:36 am Curious to know if anyone has used any of the nail-less timber decking fasteners around the place.
I've seen thisat one of the home shows, and the end results was a really clean looking deck. I'm interested in whether the result was a good as you had hoped, and whether you think it was worth the cost and effort. Cheers Re: Nail-less decking system 2Jul 12, 2008 4:42 pm im in the middle of constructing a small 35 sq mtr no nail deck at the moment
the system you have indicated is fine but you need a biscuit joiner to rebate the boards. im using tiger claws on this particular job, they take app. 3 times longer to install than standard deck screws www.deckfastener.com i normally use tc-3 fastener's but i dont think they are listed on website if you use hidden nails allow extra $600 odd dollars for a 30 odd sq mtr deck in fastener cost. I'm about to put 90mm merbau down on a 5m x 5m deck and would like to hear about peoples experiences (good and bad) about these systems. Have they stood the test of time ? Has anyone had to replace a board ? if so how hard was it ? Any warping or cupping of the boards ? Did you use a bead of adhesive (liquid nails) on the joists ? Thanks in advance. Re: Nail-less decking system 12Aug 28, 2012 10:12 pm I have used the camo decking system and been very impressed with the results. Very easy to use and I like the idea that i can replace individual boards if I need too. They are available at bunnies but i ordered online for about half the price and longer screws Re: Nail-less decking system 13Aug 29, 2012 9:57 am You can see my pics in this post: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=32069 it's now just over 2 years old, and apart from needing another clean and oil heading into the warmer weather, it's still exactly the same. *the only thing that has probably changed is the boards shrunk about 2mm in length. So all our flush joins between the lengths of boards have opened very slightly...no biggy. *haven't replaced any boards and hopefully won't need to... don't expect to. *no warping or cupping of any boards, although it is under the alfresco roof (but does get wet in wind blown rain) *yes, we used liquid nails between the boards and joists. I am concerned about splitting over time as the screws are close to the edge than traditional screws. ask the surveyor for clarification would be the logical approach 1 20117 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Hi there, I just recently received my new house from my builder.
