Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Sep 03, 2015 6:34 pm Hello Google has failed me so im hoping someone can explain what we need to do! We built a jarrah deck a year ago and it looked beautiful and we wanted to keep the natural colour of the timber. We were recommended Sikkens Cetol Deck in natural in 3 coats to achieve this. We bought 2 large tins but only used 1 (60m2 deck). Fast forward 1 year and it looks disgusting. The natural colour is not clear but is instead a yellow colour. It has cracked in the areas exposed to the sun but looks ok in the protected parts. We dont want to use the natural sikkens again as it will look even more yellow but with $150 worth of it left we are wondering if it can still be used with a coloured stain underneath. Sikkens dont have a jarrah colour or anything close to it so we chose Feast Watson jarrah Timber and Deck Stain. We cleaned a small bit of deck with napisan and tried out the stain and love the colour with 1 coat but 2 coats is a bit too much colour. Do we put the sikkens cetol deck on top of the jarrah stain? Do we use something else on top of the stain instead or is 1 coat ok and no top coat needed? Hoping someone has an answer! Our deck looks like someone cracked eggs all over it...ughh Re: yet another decking oil/stain question 2Sep 03, 2015 6:43 pm As a side note the deck was left uncoated for about 6 months before we put the sikkens on (thats how long it took us to build it lol ) and then it was sanded and then coated so i dont think its due to poor preparation that it looks like poo....it looked great wet but orange/yellow when dry Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10932 I'm about to put down some Merbau.
