Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Dec 11, 2014 8:36 am Hi Everyone, We are at tender stage and are trying to consider what is the best finish for the alfresco area smooth concrete finish or broom (rough) finish as we won't be tiling? All opinions and suggestions much appreciated!!! Thanks kindly sheffieldhunter Building the Sheffield 25 + 2 sq Re: What finish is best for the alfresco area if not tiling? 2Dec 11, 2014 11:39 am Think non slip. Even if it's not a drink spill it could be rain or blown in from watering. I believe you may be able to discuss the degree of 'roughness' with the broom finish, so that it's not too bad underfoot? Re: What finish is best for the alfresco area if not tiling? 3Dec 18, 2014 5:18 pm Thanks. We have chosen broom finish hopefully what you mentioned they will let us decide on the degree of roughness i don't want it too rough with young ones as our son doesn't like wearing shoes!!!! Thanks again for your reply. You need to ensure the finish will have a slip rating of R11- same as outdoor tiles. The company doing the job for you should be able to advise what the slip rating will be when completed. Good luck.
