Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Oct 31, 2014 10:03 am We've just had someone in to do our landscaping/paving, and while I am happy enough with the quality of their work, the irrigation is a point of contention. In their quote they have allowed for 'mains connect irrigation'. In my mind the mains connection implies a connection to mains water (somewhere between the meter and the house), with solenoids to control the flow to the garden as required. What I have been told mains connection is, however, is having the irrigation connected to the tap via a metal 4 outlet manifold (three outlets for lawn/garden bed, and one empty outlet for the hose). So my first question is regarding the terminology and whether this is standard industry speak that I have misinterpreted, or have they just been lazy and now asking me to pay for it?? I was also told that the cost to 'upgrade' from a click-on system to a mains connection was $260 (which I agreed to) and when I questioned it I was told that a click-on system is just a hose fitting somewhere in the lawn that I would have to click my hose into. So that brings me to my second question. Now that I have these hoses stuck on my garden tap, what would be the best timer solution for them? It is unfeasible for me to connect the system to the mains now as I'd have to rip up paving to run the pipes through to the front of the house... Thanks for any advice!
