Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Jul 28, 2014 3:41 pm Hi, I am new here. I recently renovated my house and am looking at adding a carport along the side of the house. I've been trying to find a design that suits the house better but none has been appealing. I am hoping to get some guidance from anyone who has seen a nice carport design. I am hoping to get a decent one for less than 6k. Here's how the side of the house look like: Re: Which carport suits this house? 2Aug 02, 2014 7:18 am At a glance, you have just under 3 metres from the eave to the boundary. Without a parapet wall on the boundary, the roof will need to be in 500mm from the fence, however the posts can go hard to the fence. Now, you are looking at a 2.5 meter wide roof. Too thin for a domed roof, so forget that option. A gable design will look stupid with a standard 18 - 20 degree pitch. If you want a gable design, change the angle/pitch to 25 degrees and it would look fine. Now you are left with either a gable or flat style roof, with posts offset to the boundary. A flat roof 12 metres long by 2.5 wide with boundary posts should cost you $4250 - $4500, gable design, same size, around $7000. If a flat roof, use monument colour for the gutters and barge flashings and surfmist, colour to bottom for the sheets, steel in Surfmist also. Gable design, Night Sky colour for the gutters and flashings, Monument for everything else, colour to top for roof sheets. Would a "fly-over" style roof work here - attached to house and posts on boundary line - sort of. Black on light wood does look good. Not sure if it will be as long lasting as a steel finish? 6 6349 brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7566 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7271 |
