Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Jul 25, 2014 4:27 pm Hi, I am currently researching options for furnishing my tiny balcony. The place is a rental, and part of an apartment complex, so I can't go doing anything permanent, and I want to be mindful of what others can see from their apartments. Basically, what I want is a nice little area where I can sit (preferably in some soft of comfy lounging chair) in the sun and read, that doesn't leave me feeling too exposed. I probably wouldn't have more than 2 people out there usually because I am am mindful of making too much noise for everyone else around. The old setup was a small wooden table and three chairs. We ate out there twice, but it was uncomfortable because we felt like we were very out in the open, and again, conscious of the noise we were making. I am a uni student with no car, so anything that I buy has to be fairly cheap, and home delivered/carried on the bus. I can probably con a friend into doing a trip with her car sometime, but I would prefer not to. I live on the southside of Brisbane. On one end of the balcony there is a gate that we go in and out of a bit. It can be opened outwards, so it doesn't intrude too much on the space. Here's some photos (it's very messy and ugly at the moment!): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Furnishing Help for Small Balcony in Rental Home 2Aug 09, 2014 11:12 am You don't have much room - so a smaller type barbeque - Webber - might be good. I'd go gas as they are easier - and might smoke less ... ie neighbours. Maybe go for some "high" (bench) type chairs - like you sometimes see in a kitchen - with a table between - wood that come in a flat pack - easy to put in car. Good for a feed and a nice way to relax and have a beer at the end of the day. Don't know where you are - or what the crime rate is - but I'd also invest in a simple chain - with pad lock - to run through it all - to make taking it harder ... If you're trying to save money - one of those simple little electric barbeques also does a good job - not as good - but does a few steaks and sausages. Very easy to clean too.
