Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Jul 15, 2014 11:21 am Hi, Our house has a pergola built by the previous owners. The pergola itself is fine however it is trimmed in burgundy which we want to change. The bottom of the pergola posts have base covers that are burgundy also. Can these be removed? Or can you only add these at the point when the pergola is being built? Or would it just be easier to use an aluminum paint and paint them? Cheers S Re: Can you change pergola post base covers? 2Jul 15, 2014 2:04 pm Hi. Do you mean the stirrups ? Or has it got covers on each post to make it look nice (ie little square pieces - like at the base of a pool fence) ? By the sound of it I'd probably paint them if it was too much trouble to remove/change. Re: Can you change pergola post base covers? 4Jul 16, 2014 8:26 am They are probably cast all-in-one pieces of gal. or aluminium. The only way to remove them it to cut them off with tin snips or a grinder. They are there to hide the stirrups that support the base of the posts. Usually they are slotted over the post before the main pergola beams are attached to the post. If they really bug you just paint them as SM says, the same colour as the posts and you won't even notice them.
