Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Jul 13, 2014 8:54 pm Hi, We have built a water feature at the front of our house. It is 6.6m long x .9m wide and .45m deep. it has a concrete base and the walls are built 2 high with besser blocks. My husband put 2 coats of Bondall Bitumen Paint on it and it is leaking. Is there something we have done wrong? Is there something else we can do to water proof it. It is empty at the moment and I would like it fixed as soon as possible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Re: Water Feature 2Jul 14, 2014 4:35 pm I like those plastic shells that go into a frame work. But - is there any indication where the leak is - ie where the wet area is ? The wettest corner or side ? Water is a tricky thing though - it will find a way to get in or out. One idea might be to fibre glass it - like they do to shower floors etc. Not sure of cost. Its a sort of paint. I know some people use plastic sheeting in the "pool" to ensure no leaks. Re: Water Feature 3Jul 15, 2014 12:43 am Lol It seems to be leaking everywhere :/ I did think about fibreglassing it as it would probably be quite hard to line with plastic because of the size of it. Thanks for the advice. Re: Water Feature 4Jul 17, 2014 6:46 pm You really need to waterproof it properly with a proper water proofing system with a bond breaker on all the corners otherwise it will probably leak. Goo-gle "waterproof water feature" for no end of systems and "how too" documents on the procedure. *make sure whatever system you use complies with the relevant Australian standard (which I can't think of off the top of my head Re: Water Feature 5Jul 17, 2014 7:13 pm Thanks, I have googled but there seems to be so many different ideas and methods, I will keep searching though Re: Water Feature 6Jul 17, 2014 7:38 pm I've seen this stuff used quite effectively in the past: http://www.crommelin.com.au/range/at-ho ... erproofer/ * I have no association with this company and recommend that anybody thoroughly researches this product to make sure it's right for their application Re: Water Feature 7Aug 03, 2014 9:24 am Are the blocks filled with concrete? Are they laid on the concrete base or external footings?
