I'm not sure how they work though, in terms of power. I love those downlight type ones you see in tiles. I also love those little stick up lights you see stuck into plant pots or ground soil next to trees...how do these actually work?? 2. We want some screening plants, like big palms and cicads. Our balcony patio is on the ground floor and while not exactly completely exposed, it's more than what we're used to being on the first floor right now in our rented flat. Does anyone know how much bamboo screens cost from nurseries or furniture shops? We've had a bit of a look around but can't really see anything exactly what we want yet. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Patio/balcony lighting & Screening plants/bamboo 2May 21, 2008 7:01 pm I saw some timber screening at Bunning’s when I was out there last, it looked …..OK.
A bit flimsy…but only $79 a piece, these would look good, if you could figure how to attach them. For your pot plant, just buy the solar lights, you can pick them up in hardware stores, Bunning’s or K-Mart. I use those here in my pots. I have about 12 at the moment! The other types of lighting are…..under trees for up lighting…need to be wired in by an electrician, small amount to pay for such a great feature to your garden! The next one I have also in my front garden, you buy them as a set, with about 4 lights in the box and they are pre wired together…..you run the wiring lead trough your window and plug into a power point close by. Means you can’t lock the window closed, as my partner did with my first set, and snapped the wiring in half! I just put a piece of timber dowel in that window as the lock! These are solar lights; you just pock them in the ground. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is your uplight feature light for tress and whatever. They need wiring in by electrician. Wow if it is. That's GORGEOUS!
I love the idea of solar lights. I don't want any need for wiring or electricians. At all. Or at least not until we're more settled. I definitely don't want any leads running through windows. We actually don't have a window anywhere leading to the patios, only sliding floor to ceiling doors/windows. We're also going to be getting a cat, who will no doubt chew everything in sight. lol Solar lights are it for me! How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Solars are great, mine have a really nice blue light to them, very pretty!
