Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Mar 11, 2014 10:59 pm Evening all. I have just had a plan put together for a deck that is to be built in alfresco. It is approximately 5.5m wide and 4.5m deep. It has a clearance of about 400mm. The design uses 90x45 H3 treated pine for both the bearers and the joists - 4 bearers and 13 joists, with 5 stirrups supporting each bearer. Does this sound right? Is this accepted practice? I have always thought that the bearers would be minimum of 120x45 or even 140x45. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice. Mick. Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck?
