Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Feb 17, 2014 7:43 pm We're doing up the outside of our 70's brick veneer home. Right now we are ready to pay someone to render the entire exterior and to build a deck to the front of the home ourselves. The rendering will take 3 days, the deck we plan on doing over a series of weekend. Should we deck then render or render then deck?? Pros? Cons? Thanks Re: RENO - deck then render or render then deck 2Feb 17, 2014 8:19 pm Hi nellpop We suggest render first - that's what we did - with our new house though, but makes no difference if it's an older one- end result's the same. That way you will get a neater finish with the newly rendered walls continuing down seamlessly below your new deck. If you build the deck first, not only will the wet render get dropped all over your nice new deck if they aren't careful, they will have to try and end the new rendered wall edge somehow as it butts with new deck - which mightn't look as neat. He's a few pics that might help.
