Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Dec 17, 2013 2:55 pm I am not 100% sure about our alfresco area. The size is 6350 X 2800, it sits over de full length of our family and meals area but is with 2800 not that deep. Not sure if this is ideal. Suppose the major advantage of having an alfresco which is not that deep it the amount of daylight which hopefully still can enter our family and meals. Is there anybody who has an alfresco which has similar sizes? And if so what are your experiences? Cheers, DD Re: What is the size of you alfresco area? 2Dec 18, 2013 7:22 am that is still considerably larger than most of the standard offerings from project home builders. You could go with a bench seat type dining setting but 2800W should accommodate most chair/table settings, just shop around until you find one that will fit neatly. Our current sunroom is 2900W and easily fits a relatively large 6 seater setting with space to spare Re: What is the size of you alfresco area? 3Dec 19, 2013 2:04 pm Ours was big - but I reckon the bigger the better. We're in Qld so love the outdoors and the protection from the sun. It also helps with the house ventilation. We have a 10 seater - but only have it set up for 8 - our barbeque - and a bar table - with 4 high chairs. I also have a rocker. Our area is about 4 by 11 and an area outside of this w/out cover - which I plan to cover - its about 2.5 x 6. IMO having your wood gear out of the sun is essential regardless of oiling. Also - you must be able to use it in all weather - ie be able to move back in a bad storm. We have wooden stacker doors opening onto the area - also triple sliding glass doors. So we can open up and almost double the size of the house for a party. I've put power points in the ceiling and hung zappers - for mites/mossies etc. They are awesome and we never/rarely get bitten. Also have lights - on a dimmer and a fan. Dog also uses the area to eat etc. Re: What is the size of you alfresco area? 4Dec 19, 2013 2:04 pm Re dog - when we go out we know he'll be safe and out of the weather. Re: What is the size of you alfresco area? 5Dec 30, 2013 9:22 am Thanks! Suppose is not that bad. Cheers DD Re: What is the size of you alfresco area? 6Dec 30, 2013 10:53 am Mine is not that size as i deliberately made the area bigger knowing what I wanted to have in the area. My mothers place has something around that size and it is definitely workable although you want to ensure that you have shielding from the weather. Try and visualise or mark up what you intend to have out there and how it will be arranged. That may give you an idea of whether there will be a squeeze or not. The ability to open doors out of the way into the area will give the added room to move. Your length would be fine but if you have the room I would definitely increase the width. The cost to increase our alfresco was quite reasonable. I would of preferred 5m but we were limited by the back fence. A minimum of 4m if possible would be better but if you don't have the space or the $$$ the size you currently have is still useable and still more than most have.
