Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Dec 15, 2013 5:42 pm We've had concrete done down the side of the house. Lucky it's just the dead side of the house as it looks really uneven to me. I'm thinking of going with a different contractor as I'm not happy... What do you think? It feels quite uneven to walk on too.... Re: Concrete uneven advice please 3Dec 15, 2013 6:24 pm Yep, I'm not happy at all. We've been meticulous with everything with the house and all trades were top notch. Plus I actually asked for colour through which is not what I got. 2 Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Concrete uneven advice please 4Dec 15, 2013 7:45 pm Thanks bashworth. Ok, if concreter says 'it isn't finished,' nothing can actually be done to change the 'shape' ,right? Once concrete is laid, other than saw.cuts not much can be done to change it other than color, correct? 2 Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Concrete uneven advice please 5Dec 15, 2013 8:48 pm Once concrete has been placed there is about an hour to get the overall shape right and a bit longer to work on the final surface finishing and then 'that's it' apart from any paint finish. Re: Concrete uneven advice please 8Dec 24, 2013 8:41 am Rough as ! I'd say they have poured it and then wooden trowelled it far too soon. You are supposed to pour it , get it level then wait until the surface is starting to go off before finishing it. Stewie Re: Concrete uneven advice please 9Dec 26, 2013 3:08 pm Thanks guys, the rest of the.concrete looks great, I had it done by a different crew. 2 Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Concrete uneven advice please 10Dec 30, 2013 7:46 am Yep - essential to get at least 3 quotes and see work they've done. Ask neighbours. Have a look about and enquire who did work you like etc. Don't always take cheapest quote. Re: Concrete uneven advice please 12Jan 26, 2014 9:26 am wood bang Not the worst that I have seen, but pretty 'meh' on the quality. You could be annoying and ask him to rip it up, then redo it as it hasn't been done to your specification. We had some edging done ... and it had to be within a certain distance - the width. Of course when I came out and measured it was wider than we'd agreed - I stipulated and re-enforced it had to be under this size. I must say the guy tried to fix it but with curved edges it was hard. In the end he ripped the lot out and did it again. Not happy but he knew he'd done it wrong - he told me it was under the distance and we then measured it. So - its worth putting it on paper.
