Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Dec 01, 2013 8:05 am Hi All, Please let me preface this that I am not a handyman so I'm hoping that I can get some guidance. We purchased this current house a little over a year ago and all of the decking etc looked great but as the months have gone by the appearance has started to deteriorate and I'd like to get it looking good for Christmas. I went to Bunnings and got some advice there, essentially they said I need to - Sand the deck back (I purchased a Makita sheet orbital sander) - Clean it with a cleaner (I purchased an Intergrain cleaning product) - Gerni it (I bought a Gerni) - Leave it for a week - Apply the stain (haven't bought this yet but have been told Intergrain is the one to buy). So, I'm up to step 1, the deck currently looks like this, lots of grey on the wood. https://www.dropbox.com/s/9u3eqxg84k35z ... resand.JPG I started with an 80 grit and found that it wasn't really achieving anything and then moved down to a 60, I've just started in one area and it now looks like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5bx8yt3kfrh4fll/aftersand.JPG So now I'm not sure how far I should be sanding back? I was thinking about going down to a 40 grit but I'd like to stop until I get some advice. I also keep getting globs of stain on the sandpaper, do I try and get them off or just change the sandpaper? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Ben My land is 260m2 (10m x 26m) located in claymore NSW. Under campbelltown council.
