Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Nov 15, 2013 4:09 pm Hey All Just need some guidance I'm will be doing my own decking around the front porch and alfresco area once the house is built.. Lots of info on the internet and youtube, so pretty confident I can do this myself. Anyone have any ideas on how to do the cedar lining on the roof? There's hardly any info on the net on how to do this. Would anyone know where is the best place to start? The house just comes standard with plasterboard roof around the alfresco area, I may even think about doing it around the front porch I'm assuming the Cedar lining will need to be screwed on to some battens. Does that mean you have to remove the ceiling plaster around the alfresco area to do this?? The cedar boards will need to be fixed direct to battens via nail fixing but can be done with screw fixings. You could overlay new battens on top of the plasterboard as long as you fixed back to the original battens, however I would strongly recommend that you remove the plasterboard and fix he new cedar boards to the original battens/rafter. Depending on the direction of the new boards you may need to introduce counter battens. Hi, I am sheeting the inside of a 5.7 x 8m shed with gyprock.
