Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Mar 14, 2013 12:47 pm Hi, We are nearing the end of construction of our home and I am looking for a letterbox. I am not after a box on a metal pole type letterbox I want something a bit different. The one I currently have my eye on is one of these http://www.melbourneclotheslines.com.au ... etterboxes The Maddison. I have been quoted a price for delivery and install of this but I have not been unable to find anything similar to compare the price... I dont know if what I have been quoted is reasonable or not. Can anyone please recommend places either online or within the northern suburbs of melbourne that I can get a letterbox somewhat similar to this one. I have tried Bunning, Masters and the local garden shop and they all have letterboxes but not in the style I am looking for. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. P.S Appologies if this is posted in the wrong sections. Thanks Re: Mail/Letterbox suppliers in Melbourne 2Mar 14, 2013 1:05 pm We have the Maddison letterbox - you have great letterbox taste ! I can't tell you if the price was reasonable, but I can tell you that I struggled to find anything similar in my searches. We didn't pay for installation though, our landscaper installed it when they did the garden for no extra We were a little disappointed with the service of MCL; it took about a month longer than we were told it would, but since we were waiting for the landscaper to start it wasn't an issue. Re: Mail/Letterbox suppliers in Melbourne 3Mar 14, 2013 1:39 pm Thanks Monkeypantz, Hmmm, we are due for Handover in 5 weeks, i am just wondering if I should order it now as we will be moving in straight away and landscapping is going to be a slow process we will do ourselves... I keep getting told it takes max 2-3 weeks to make, deliver and install. You are right, I am having so much trouble finding anything similar, i just keep coming accross the metal pole type ones and those square ones (not sure what they are called elsewhere) that this company call Sandstone Greenvale. Re: Mail/Letterbox suppliers in Melbourne 4Mar 14, 2013 1:55 pm They told us 2-3 weeks as well, but we called after a month and there had been a hold up because the renderer wasn't there (sick/on leave/too busy, I don't remember). Then we called a couple of weeks later and they were still working through the backlog. It was finished a couple of weeks later, which was probably a month after handover. Like I said, it wasn't an issue for us, but calling us and letting us know would have made all the difference! Until we had it installed we just used a Bunnings single post cheapie, but in our estate the postie will drop your mail on the doorstep if you don't have a letterbox so we could have gotten away with nothing.
