Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Nov 19, 2012 9:21 pm Hi, we are about to embark on renovating our back yard. The idea was to have deck built over are old paved area and have pergola put up. One of the companies that are going to quote said that he wouldn't recommend having a deck is that after a few years it might start to smell??? He said that since we won't have access to under it to clean it, if something slips through the gaps (like food or animal hair) after a while it might stink. I have never heard of this before and now I am worried, we would really prefer to have deck as going to paving would be a huge job! I've seen loads of photos on the forum and online doing what we are doing, and wondering if its a huge issue? Any advice? Our landscaper thinks its ridiculous!
