Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Nov 13, 2012 8:51 pm We're looking at different types of timber to lay decking in our small al fresco area. At first we were looking at Merbau but it's very expensive. The guys at the timber yard suggested we use Keruing but i've never heard of it and can't find much online. Has anyone heard of it or used it? I just want to know if it's a good alternative to Merbau, if it's just as durable and looks just as good?? Thanks, P_S Re: Keruing decking. Anyone used it before? 2Nov 14, 2012 9:11 am hi there, I have used it. Well I used it for a pool decking display (herald sun homeshow), so its only seen internal use (ie- cant comment on durability) I used 140 x 22. I found the lengths to be very straight and uniform, alot straighter than merbau. It stained up brilliant, was a little redder than merbau, more between jarrah and merbau. Id alos be interested to hear what people who have used it outdoors think of it Re: Keruing decking. Anyone used it before? 3Nov 14, 2012 11:44 am Thanks. I'm suprised that there's not so much info from people who've used it online. The only online info I can find are people who are selling it, which is obviously a little bias. Re: Keruing decking.
