Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Oct 29, 2012 1:39 pm Hope I've put this in the right forum. I have a water pump and saw water pump covers being sold in a pump shop recently. It made me think that maybe I should get a cover to cover my pump and protect it from the elements. But my question is whether they are really necessary or just a waste of money. Any opinions? In my case, there is so much pipes going in all directions from the pump, the ready-made pumps won't work and I'll have to make one myself if I need one, although something simple wouldn't be too hard to make. Re: Are water pump covers necessary or a waste of money? 2Oct 30, 2012 8:08 am Good question. We have a spa pump outside the house and as our house has no eaves, I'll be putting a cover over it for two reasons: 1. Protection from elements. 2. Reduce noise for my neighbors. Having said that, my grandparents have had an electric pump sitting on top of their in-ground concrete tank, un-protected for about 10 years now and it's still working. Can't recall the brand but it's yellow so I assume the brand is Davey. Re: Are water pump covers necessary or a waste of money? 3Oct 30, 2012 9:50 am Covers are inexpensive and necessary for most pumps. It also looks better. The pump piping should go to a manifold away from the pump if additional branch lines are needed...but the plumbing sounds strange. 3in1 Supadiverta.
