Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Oct 25, 2012 7:06 pm I have been left feeling very frustrated today by a Perth company - Eco Outdoor WA and feel the need to vent! As a working mum with 3 children under 5 who is building a house for the first time, life is busy and all I ask of a business is to be efficient and honest - Eco Outdoor has been neither of these. After fantastic initial service over 3 visits, choosing an appropriate product for our outdoor project that was within our budget, we received a quote. We were happy with the quote and decided to proceed with the items we needed, through the company installing our pool. This is when Eco Outdoor became difficult. The price they provided our pool company was 50% higher than what we had been quoted, which was bizarre in itself. We decided to order the items ourselves with the original quote, however, as the time got closer to the end of the quote's validity (it was valid for 30 days) the staff became evasive and avoidant - not answering calls or emails and the original sales assistant I had spoken to (****) was out of the office for the next few days. I persevered on Monday and asked to speak to someone else so I could get the order started, as I was concerned it would not get here in time for our scheduled date for paving. I was told not to worry, "it will only take 2 weeks, wait to speak to **** on Thursday". When i spoke to the original sales assistant **** on Thursday I was initially given a different price. When I queried it and gave the price from the quote I was put on hold several times, then eventually told I would be called back. When **** called me again 30 minutes later I was told the price of freight had increased significantly (it had more than doubled) and was now 25% of the total price. When I questioned this I was given a ridiculous explanation about why it costs more to ship now than the original quote and it was my issue because the project was so small. I was so irate I left it to my husband to phone him back and discuss further. After another lengthy conversation and irrational explanations on how it will cost more than double the initial delivery cost to transport half the number of pavers they agreed to honor the quote. It does not end here as the issue then suddenly became getting the products here on time. It was now "2 weeks to produce the product and a further 7-10 days to transport the product to Perth"!! So after unbelievably bad service, and changing prices they now were blaming production and transport timing issues. The message I took was that they did not want our business and so they have not got it. I headed up to Fremantle Stone and got fantastic service for a great price and no more stress about the project being incomplete. Incidentally, when I talked to a few other companies about what had happened they told me that other customers had also reported bad service with Eco Outdoor so I feel like we are not the only ones! My advice would be to stay away from this company and find products that are sourced locally for your project - and you can save yourself the hassle of bad service, overpriced items and much stress!!
