Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Oct 11, 2012 1:00 pm Hi, we will be housing our cars in a shed on our half acre block, instead of the conventional attached double garage to the house. I am wondering if I should try to blend with bush/plantings (the block has been grazed and is completely bare) or blend with house? The shed will be sited behind the house. The shed has 2 automatic roller doors and a workshop at one end. I was wondering if slightly contrasting doors to the walls would look good? Or should I just go the one colour only? The house roof is surfmist. Ideas, and hopefully pics greatly appreciated!!! Re: Help with Shed colour schemes 2Oct 11, 2012 6:44 pm what colour are your house bricks ? How close to the house will it be? How much will it be obscured from the house once you plant trees, landscape etc etc. if very close I'd make it similar colours to the house. But in saying that I'm assuming the bricks are lightish. Otherwise go something neutral. or lightish green/brown. rather than a deep blue or dark green. Re: Help with Shed colour schemes 3Oct 11, 2012 6:56 pm The house will be sited in front of most of the shed so only a glimpse from the road. Shed will be about 6m away from house and accessible to our side mud porch. House has double sized limestone bricks. I don't want to go the creamy colours though cos of gravel dirt. What do you suggest for CLB? Re: Help with Shed colour schemes 4Oct 11, 2012 8:23 pm bushland , paperbark or wilderness then evening shade, windspray, dune, jasper, woodland grey ' if you dont want to go a cream. I'd avoid the darker colours. I'd go either single colour or 2 shades with a mid/light tone shed and lighter doors. http://www.sheds.com.au/colorbond-colour-chart.html Though I've also seen a few people do a deep ocean with cream for a real contrast. but I wouldn't do this if if you've lots of cream, greys, and beiges. Re: Help with Shed colour schemes 5Oct 19, 2012 7:52 pm Dune with maybe Paperbark doors? Is that too creamy? or Bushland with Woodland grey doors? We will be putting the shed up before the house is built, so want it to be an attractive colour combo. Re: Help with Shed colour schemes 6Oct 19, 2012 8:00 pm Both sound good. 1st poss better than second because it's a little lighter. Any shed displays or cb patio/ fencing companies near you? You might be able to see a large sheet of the colours then to get an idea of what they would look like. That way tell if they are too light/overwheming etc Or anyone near you who has a colour up and you can door knock and ask the colour. sometimes the colours look different to what you expect. Re: Help with Shed colour schemes 7Oct 19, 2012 8:19 pm Yes, all I have now is a small CLB chart. I haven't seen any really large sheds in clb colours I recognise, huge milking or machinery sheds aren't usually that stylish! It's hard to imagine a big expanse of CLB. There is an outdoor place not too far away that I might have a look at, they do dutch barn conversions but from memory of driving past they are not subtle colours at all.
