Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Aug 24, 2012 12:45 pm WE are building in a barbeque are on the outer edge of our alfresco. It will be bench height of about 950mm and then a splashback area of about 300mm high. My husband thinks we will need a rangehood or the white roof of the alfresco will become smoke/grease affected. I sort of think because its open above the splashback area it should be ok. Any thoughts here? While I dont mind having a rangehood I think it will look funny as the wall doesnt go all the way to the ceiling (IYKWIM) thanks all Re: Does an outdoor BBQ need a rangehood if under alfresco? 2Aug 24, 2012 1:01 pm I am intersted to see what people who DO NOT have a range hood have to say about this as i am in the exact same situation. I also feel it would damage the plaster but i may be wrong..... I currently use our BBQ under our alfresco which is just the corugated plastic and it has marked it somewhat over the last 5 years. A full height ceiling may be different though Re: Does an outdoor BBQ need a rangehood if under alfresco? 3Aug 24, 2012 1:07 pm Brad is your bbq near the edge of the alfresco or more towards the middle? Our ceiling will be white hardiboard (or something water resistant I would think) and its 31c high. Re: Does an outdoor BBQ need a rangehood if under alfresco? 4Aug 24, 2012 1:17 pm Its probably only 50cm or so under the side of the pergola. Its hard to say how much muck is stuck to the plastic because its clear, but there is definitely a bit of stuff on there. Re: Does an outdoor BBQ need a rangehood if under alfresco? 5Aug 24, 2012 1:23 pm ok thanks - sounds like a rangehood over the bbq would be a wise investment. Re: Does an outdoor BBQ need a rangehood if under alfresco? 6Aug 30, 2012 2:33 pm We had a lot of grease on our pergola roof at our old house, built up over the years but definetely didn't look nice. This time we have a range hood,, we have a normal plaster ceiling but built a full brick wall splasback that will be tiled, we bought th beefeater BBQ range hood. http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff468/gogo65/CE3BB7B6-09C6-4BD1-9893-905166C914A1-2539-0000073296822B55.jpg Re: Does an outdoor BBQ need a rangehood if under alfresco? 7Aug 30, 2012 3:12 pm [quote="gogo65"]We had a lot of grease on our pergola roof at our old house, built up over the years but definetely didn't look nice.
