Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Aug 03, 2012 11:17 pm Hi guys, I need some advice on clothesline. We've currently got a folding frame clothesline under the carport but wanted to get a rotary one put in in the back for summer so that we can get the natural sun's rays. We are tossing up between the Daytek Rotary fold away clothesline or the Hills rotary Hoists range. Any advice? Thanks in advance! Re: Clothes line - Daytek or Hills 2Aug 05, 2012 12:13 am We just purchased one a few weeks ago (have only been in our house over a year lol) and we went with the Daytek brand. We had already had one at our previous house and found it to be wonderful and a lot cheaper than the Hills brand. That and the fact that we couldn't get the size we wanted in the Hills size lol No really if it had of come down to it would have still gone with Daytec being around $100 cheaper and having a better warranty and all the same features, was a no brainier really. Cheers Janet Re: Clothes line - Daytek or Hills 4Oct 21, 2012 9:57 am i can recall see an advert a few years ago now where someone actually came out and refurbished your existing hills hoist we have one of the old originals and would like to keep it and move it down to the new house. it really needs a good oil and new lines threaded thru i googled clothesline doctor and got a mob in sa but when you click on the 'visit the website' link it seems to be no longer avl if anyone knows anyone that does this in sa please throw up a link Re: Clothes line - Daytek or Hills 7May 01, 2013 8:46 pm I think the hills hoist is bigger. It will allow you to hang more clothes for your clothesline and it has bigger space in between lines that allows air to circulate better. I have almost the same product. I think I bought from the distributor of the hills. I have to agree with you regarding this type of clothesline, it really gets to hang more clothes than the fold-away one.
Re: Clothes line - Daytek or Hills 8May 01, 2013 9:09 pm We put an austral clothesline in our current house it is entirely made in Australia. Our backyard is quite small. We bought the austral on line we have had it 5 years now. And still looks as good as it did the day DH installed it. I suggest you look at the austral clothes lines they were cheaper too. Re: Clothes line - Daytek or Hills 9May 01, 2013 9:48 pm I have the hills rotary 8 in my yard; I plan to take it with me since we shortened the post so my sister and I (4‘9" & 5' tall) could reach it comfortably. There is folding one as well which we shall leave. Always had Hills brand, never had issues with the company. They've repaired them as required even more than 20 years later. I have found that with the folding mechanism, if you don't use it for five years, it will probably jam when you try it again... but that isn't surprising! I've never heard anything against Daytek, just don't have personal experience with them. HD Land settled May '14.
