Also whether anyone has used the DIY type ones you can buy from Bunnings or even Kmart etc and whether they're any good. Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 3Apr 15, 2012 9:54 am Hi Guys, I got some from bunnings a while ago and they were no good only lasted me about 3 months as they use cheap chinese plastic so i decided to get decent custom made ones, there is a company called Ozrite - Awnings & Outdoor Blinds http://www.ozriteblinds.com.aubased out of brisbane they make and send Outdoor Blinds (cafe Blinds) and Awnings Australia Wide so if you want to DIY and save you can get top quality custom made ones at a fraction of the price from there website, the ones i got were called "Ziptrak" and they are awsome, so much easier to use than the rope and pulley types. Hope this helps.Alex. Any comments re: (1) Was their product dead on correct size for you? (2) Was DIY installation straightforward enough? (3) quality of their assembly/manuf of your blind(s) (4) General service & how quick was delivery from Ozriteblinds? Regards Geoff Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 5Feb 11, 2013 1:00 pm Found Ozrite from online reviews, they have a good website & very competitive pricing, we paid in total slightly over $1500 for 2 HD Channels (think closest local company was double the price). Free shipping to Perth a bonus. Production took around 10 business days, shipping took a further 6 business days, so in total 4 weeks to arrive. I was satisfied with the turnaround time. Chris really helped out in recommending product, explaining etc. Best to call up to speak with someone, although they generally did respond to my emails a bit slower. Went with 2 large Heavy Duty channels, approx 4.3m and 4.8m in length. Looks great, and very easy to install. Would easily recommend this company. Make sure you check, re-check, and triple check your measurements so it is spot on! We used a local company for a free measure and quote, and then I checked and double checked their measurements to make sure it would fit! See pics below. Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 6Feb 11, 2013 1:59 pm They look great Jockster. we have order 3 from them so far and will order the last 2 on the weekend after measuring. You are right, just make sure measurements are spot on. We have had nothing but great comments on the blinds, as they look custom made and installed professionally. Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 7Feb 11, 2013 2:13 pm For sure, great way to go! Very easy to install; Thought may as well add my quick tips to install by yourself/others (at least on the HD version, maybe slightly different on other blinds), I used 80mm plugs (orange colour) with the 10g 75mm hexaganol screw type heads. First pre-drill holes into the aluminium bracket (as the brackets came blank - allows you to accurately place bracket onto wall). I also countersunk the holes to help the screw get a more flusher finish and not stick out as far. I placed bracket onto a piece of cardboard to give it a height above the decking, then drilled 3 small pilot holes into the brick - top/middle/bottom. Then go back and drill larger holes. Simple to attach after brackets mounted. Get a friend/neighbour not your wife to help lift the blind into position! My locking pins were lost with original packaging, but replacements are being express posted. The locking pins allow to tension the blinds so at the moment the mesh material moves a bit with the wind. Easily fixed once i get the pins. I was just wondering how things are going for you with those blinds a bit further down the track. I'm looking at getting a single large span blind which is a Crank & Clip version to cover some windows on the western wall of my house (those rooms get direct sunlight in summer and are scorching hot!). It'll span roughly 4.9 metres. From their website and an e-mail, these should be able to wound down, clipped to the wall bracket and wound up to tension tight (similar to the HD channel but without the channel!). Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 10Sep 23, 2013 11:56 am Blinds are still fantastic just over 6 months later... always get lots of compliments from visitors etc. Does a great job. Probably my only comment, maybe i should have looked how much extra to get a motorised blind. Although the crank handle works fine and it isn't a big deal. (although i think i remember the motorised blind wasnt an option unless it was bought locally in Qld). Actually planning on getting a smaller blind 1.2m to fully enclose our outdoor area, so will definitely be using Ozrite again. Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 11Sep 23, 2013 12:55 pm That's good to hear. I shall keep them high up on my list of options then! It really does come down to a good price for me whilst still trying to make sure it's a good quality product. Don't mind paying good money for a good product! Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 13Sep 23, 2013 1:03 pm jockster you won't be disappointed, just make sure your measurements are double and triple checked... i get no kickbacks or anything, just a satisfied customer Yeah will definitely check measurements properly, but it doesn't matter if mine are a bit out as it's on a wall covering windows and isn't fitting in a gap so to say so doesn't need to be a snug fit! Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 14Sep 23, 2013 1:08 pm Good point! No dramas then i guess any others reading this, if you get the HD channels, it is a "snug" fit so with blinds 5m wide, there is probably a couple cm's at max to play with. Something you wouldn't want to get wrong ! Let us know how you go when you decide anyway. Always keen to hear others experiences. Or even if you go with someone else... cheers Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 15Oct 05, 2013 4:29 pm Thinking at the moment that I'm most likely to book with Bozzy Shade Blinds. They're local and have a special out atm so it'll be a few more $$$ but not too extravagant. Has anyone had any experience with them? Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 16Oct 31, 2013 12:10 pm Obviously not. I've ordered a crank & clip blind with a span of about 5 meters from Bozzy (through their Dunsborough dealer) which should arrive in about 2 weeks. I'll post up what I think of it once it's installed. Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 17Dec 05, 2013 1:53 am A first home builder here. Just wondering if there is anything we need to do during the construction for the installation of these blinds? Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66797 Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 18Dec 05, 2013 4:22 pm Not really unless there is something unique about where you're planning on putting them. The Crank and Clip sort are essentially bolted above the window or to a rafter and just have eyelets fastened to the wall/post/floor where you want to be able to clip your blinds. The channel type is best suited to a straight edge finish (like most walls and patio poles) but I have heard of different companies doing things to suit those natural wood poles which are typically NOT even/straight. Feel free to post up a section of your plans if you want to so we can see what you're planning on doing. Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 19Dec 07, 2013 8:15 pm So I finally got around to checking out the blind I had installed at my place. Here's a quick couple of pics. I'm pretty impressed with the quality of the blind. I just need to get something to put at the other of the blind from where the downpipe is to space it out from the wall evenly. Anyways, pics! Re: Cafe Blinds - Perth 20Nov 03, 2014 4:09 am Took the advice to use Tom's Cafe Blinds from this thread. Big mistake. Try Simon from Budget Canvas. He's got an ad on Gumtree. Nice bloke to deal with, no nonsense, solid work and a very competitive price. You can put a roller blind behind the shutters. It will be much less noticeable when not in use. 3 18006 About a year ago, I embarked on a DIY project to construct an outdoor Pergola, which measures approximately 5.2 meters by 4.0… 0 24802 waste of time for us having both, living only need one or the other.
