The Crank and Clip sort are essentially bolted above the window or to a rafter and just have eyelets fastened to the wall/post/floor where you want to be able to clip your blinds. The channel type is best suited to a straight edge finish (like most walls and patio poles) but I have heard of different companies doing things to suit those natural wood poles which are typically NOT even/straight.
