Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Jan 03, 2012 10:57 pm I have started building a deck, well more like a platform to go under out wall mounted clothesline. We have used 200x50x3000 H4 sleepers laid flat on the ground (wedged where needed to help level them) & will be screwing 90x20x4800 lengths of treated pine on top. Platform will be 4800 x 1500 and will be surrounded by pebbles. Have laid pieces of sleeper in a rectangle around the edge of the area and have put sleepers between the two outer lengths (running parallel to house) to act as support & have spaced these at 450 apart. Does this sound right so far? What size gap should I be using between the decking lengths? Should I also be joining the pieces together somehow (too thick for nails/screws?) maybe with L brackets? Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10976 Hi, Apologies - I know there is plenty out there on this but struggling to put together the puzzle. We're planning our garage/external laundry to master bedroom and… 0 11123 Use a product like Equisol's Vitalise to clean the deck then coat with a penetrating timber oil. It will look 10 years younger and add value to your home. Visit for… 1 15813 |
