Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Jul 24, 2011 12:43 pm We have a verenadah along the front of the house we are building. It is half concrete and half masonite. We are thinking of putting wooden decking onto it to finish it off..... How would that be done? as I assume it would have to drain??? we could also look at the plastic wood... but how is that fixed?? I assume that either way it would need to be lifted off the deck as the water would go through the decking? unlike ceramic tiles which are sealed and have a slope to run off water.... How would all of this affect the water proofing? We would consider the ceramic tiles that look like wood, but I assume they still have to be grouted which would spoil the "fake wooden" look? - any one used them - any pics - any suggestions... do they do long ones instead of square...?? Most of the length of the verandah that joins the house is patio/bi fold doors, and a small amount of weather board. Re: DECKING ON VERANDAH - CONCRETE AND MASONITE BASE 2Jul 28, 2011 1:31 pm We built our front deck on top of the concrete slab. Similar to Stormy's shown here except not as big: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=32069&p=731778&hilit=deck+on+concrete#p731778 Not sure about the masonite. Second Time 'Round Jimbo73 I would use heaps of adhesive on each sheet and screw rather than nail. use as many as you like cheers Simeon 1 4064 Hi, we live in an area where the black soil is prone to a lot of movement. We have an old 50's house with masonite everywhere and nails popping out, warping, rusted etc.… 0 4510 Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10971 |
