Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 May 26, 2011 9:42 am I have an Alfreso already, but am planning to supplement the space behind this with an Outdoor living area. My ideas are - Conrete footings with 450mm piers where brick piers will sit Rendered/Texture coated brick piers Blueboard boxing across top to connect each brick pier (wonder if I could do it with T beams/brick instead?) The space is 3.64d x 7.02w. Anyone got any suggestions how many piers I should build? The blueboard boxing will go over the gutter and connect into the tiles for a seemless look. Eventually a vergola will be placed on top. Re: Building an outdoor living area 2May 27, 2011 4:16 pm I would think it all comes down to the load the piers need to support. Perhaps you should investigate the weight of the vergola so that you don't have to pull it down and start again. Re: Building an outdoor living area 3May 27, 2011 4:28 pm The footings will be about 450mm deep to support the brick piers. Steel rod into the concrete, starter bar attached to that to fix to the LVL later. I was more looking for some help with design. Re: Building an outdoor living area 4May 30, 2011 9:27 am Like I said it will all come down to how much load the piers have to take. Part of the design will be the load rating. When you say design what do you mean? The dimensions? The style? or the actual drawing up of the plans?
