Tel. 1800 326 326 Re: swimmning pool guidelines 4May 09, 2011 4:32 pm there is no min for distance from pool edge to fence but it is recommended there be enough room to perform a rescue from the pool if / when required. Distance from house if above ground no min but fence must be 1200 from any platform or step etc if a flat wall then you can use this wall as a fence provide it meets all fence criteria. If inground then distance from house will need to meet engineering requirements ie 45 deg angle repose from bottom of house slab. Re: swimmning pool guidelines 5May 13, 2011 10:45 pm Would be interested to know if you find out dunkyboy as we are in Perth and considering a pool too. I was told for a fibreglass pool the distance it needs to be away from the fence/house is equal to the deepest depth of the pool ie.1.5 deep = 1.5m away from boundary. A concrete pool can be placed closer. Anyone know if that is right? Re: swimmning pool guidelines 6May 14, 2011 2:21 am Slightly off topic, but keep in mind that if you won't have a fence between the pool and the house, your windows opening onto the pool area will need to comply with pool safety laws. Your shire will advise you of what is required when you get approval for the pool, but there are restrictions as to how wide the windows can open (it is in case children get out of the window). If your window openings are too large, you will need to have the windows altered, or install a fence.
