The area I want to raise (ie above the pool) (which is going to end up 500mm above an exiting pool surround deck. In total it is an area of 5400mm out from the house and 7800mm across theback of the house, which will then match up with an existing deck (it's currently split level) which is 5400 x 3900 across the back of the house. Hey Vanderlay why such a short span out to you first bearer from the house (300mm) ???? Re: Vanderlay's holiday project!! (so far).... 46Jan 07, 2008 9:42 pm Thanks Vanderlay
I'm assuming shuch a short span of 300mm from the first bearer to the house was so there is no need for a wall ledger??? Do the joists / board feel spongey in this section of the deck?? Hey Vanderlay why such a short span out to you first bearer from the house (300mm) ???? No particular reason!! It wasnt a designed that way specially or anything - we kind of had the size of deck we wanted and worked backwards. They ended up about 300 from each end and 1400 apart... Do the joists / board feel spongey in this section of the deck?? Anthony No, just the bearer then joists running to the wall - all feels very solid, had several of us jumping up and down on it when we were done with no movement at all!! (so far).... 49Jan 08, 2008 8:42 am Cool, at least you didn't skimp and try and get a bigger span on your joists like many people do. Re: Vanderlay's holiday project!! (so far).... 50May 26, 2008 11:03 pm Sorry to bring this thread up again, but i just wanted to ask Luke or Vanderlay a question. With regards to the 300mm distance of the first bearer to the house, are we able to actually put a bearer right up to the house? 300mm seem like such a big gap to get breakage over time. Or is this not 'legal' to do?
thanks guys The OP has gone The latch and striker are definitely not aligned but there was no point trying to help the OP understand that.
