Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Dec 27, 2007 8:40 pm is this a good idea? to provision for water (hot, cold and drainage) and gas at the outdoor area for barbecue.
we are building a house and considering this as early as now. to avoid the hassle of putting it up in the future. thanks. Re: gas and water provisioning on outdoor area 2Dec 27, 2007 8:53 pm Dembi, i think if they are features that you will make use of.... then go for it!!! Sounds like it will be a great place to entertain... ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: gas and water provisioning on outdoor area 3Dec 27, 2007 9:08 pm For sure!
I built provision for cold water & drainage for the BBQ area into the laundry reno at my old place. Hot water was too impractical, but would have been awesome. Only thing to watch is that a basin/sink cannot be outside where rain can fall into it - some law about stormwater & sewer having to remain seperate, and you cannot legally allow rainwater to fall into the sink. Might pay to check up on the laws if it's not going to be well undercover. Re: gas and water provisioning on outdoor area 4Dec 28, 2007 4:11 pm thanks phoenix and commodore. i was a bit worried that the idea is a bit off.
we are also thinking of putting a shade on this area so it wont be too hot during summer. this should cover the rain water from going to the sink as well. we're thinking of also putting in the hot water so washing hands and dishes wont be too cold during winter. thanks again. now what's a good idea for a shade? some ideas: -permanent roof (tiled roof or transparent?) -big umbrella (those on bars and coffee shops) -stretched tent style (those seen on parks) -others? also , any recommendations for flooring on the alfresco area. should be something low maintenance but looks good. some ideas: -plain/colored concrete? -broken tiles? -exposed aggregate? -bricks? -wooden deck? thanks guys. Re: gas and water provisioning on outdoor area 7Jan 02, 2008 6:12 pm all depends on budget and what your tastes are as far as alfresco covering and flooring Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: gas and water provisioning on outdoor area 8Jan 02, 2008 9:14 pm Quote: now what's a good idea for a shade? some ideas: -permanent roof (tiled roof or transparent?) -big umbrella (those on bars and coffee shops) -stretched tent style (those seen on parks) -others?
