Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Feb 20, 2011 6:53 pm Hi all, im looking for some advice on how to make a part of a section useable. Location Brisbane, Moreton BayShire. So far, its been very difficult to get much information. I have contacted a couple of builders etc but the numbers are ridculous. $12-15k quoted so far is robbery. Also, the council is more of a headache than a help trying to find the info i need. It seems all they want is money, and are happy to leave people stuck in the mad beauracratic nightmare they love so much. Certainly not ratepayer friendly thats for sure, even though i still pay them thousands per year for basically very little. Anyway enough of that. Ideally i wanted to build a deck to flatten it out so its useable. But it seems i must get a permit? Am I unable to do anything within 1.0 metres of the neighbours fenceline? The second idea was to build up the front bit(by the mesh fence) with a few sleepers so its level with the bottom of the steps(bottom step where yellow potplant is) and then pave it. Then lay some timber ontop and secure it with concrete screws so it looks like a deck anyway. Then I could leave the path under the a/c box clear and just have a small sleeper wall all around. What is my best options? Does anyone have any ideas about how to make this area more useable, ideally i;d like it flat and a seating area or put the small wading pool in or something like that. Just better than the bombsite it is lol. Or if anyone knows a person or company that is decent and can work with us to get a good result for an appropriate price. Apologies for the long post, i hope to hear some replies!! thanks Help with advice on deck/retaining wall plans please 2Feb 20, 2011 10:58 pm I'd say those figures are absolutely realistic.
