Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Feb 09, 2011 9:54 pm Hi folks, I did do a search but couldn't see anything on this subject. If there is, am happy to be pointed in the right direction. I am just wondering if anyone can give me any info (pros/cons etc) of an under deck water tank. For eg, are they more expensive? Way harder/more expensive to install? Generally impractical? How much space is required. Any information you can throw my way would be appreciated. We are looking at extending our decking and thinking we might like to consider this option (water tank underneath). I am still a bit unclear how the tank fits under with all the bearings/joists (I hope I have those terms correct ). I thought there were poles every m2 - or so? Or does the tank actually sit underground - under the support posts?? Thanks for any info guys. HHCIB Re: Under Deck Water Tanks.... 2Feb 10, 2011 2:03 am You can use bladder tanks in tight spaces, there are rounded underground and box type underground / under deck tanks. You can also get chemical containers for $50 to $90 (cubic meter) which have to be protected from light.
The chemical containers that have add blue (transport fuels and servicing) are safe to use. They get used once and sold because the main solution is easily contaminated. Re: Under Deck Water Tanks.... 3Oct 27, 2011 11:04 am We were looking at the water bladders with the deck we are putting in at the moment but came across the same issue with the footings spacing and not enough room (our deck is only about a meter off the ground). In the end we decided against it but our builders suggested a water tank could be put under our driveway which we will be ripping up and redoing in a few years. What did you end up doing? Re: Under Deck Water Tanks.... 4Oct 30, 2011 8:03 pm I put a 10000 liter water tank under my deck. Was very straight forward, I used a tank from Clark Tanks. my house blog: http://sugarloafdrivebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Under Deck Water Tanks.... 5Nov 01, 2011 8:26 pm We have an under deck water tank (deck yet to be built ) It was a standard Melro tank that you can pay extra for to be converted to under deck. We dug in to the Earth, dropped it in and backfilled in order to get the largest tank we could (I believe its 4000Lt?), so its half in the ground. As for the bearer and joists, hubby isnt home so I cant get technical but I believe that one or both are just made bigger to span the distance?
