Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Jan 20, 2011 8:07 pm About six our so years ago we did a full renovation on our house, and as a result we completely abandoned our pool for one and a half years or so. When we opened the pool again there were these hideous water scum (I don't know what they're called, photos below) on the tiles around the pool but we didn't really do anything about them then either (too busy, lazy, excuses excuses).
Now we're having a party next friday night and the scum marks are unbelievably hideous. I've tried everything to get them off but they're really thick now (Over 1mm thick, it seems) and the only thing that has worked is getting a spatula and physically scratching each scum mark off. Any ideas on how I can get this stuff off? Thanks. White vinegar or just any? Any vinegar will do, for memory Woolworths sold "cleaning vinegar" in the cleaning products aisle, give that a shot. We used it to clean our shower screen in Alice Springs as the calcium was notorious for making cleaning a chore. See how you go, if it doesn't work use the leftover vinegar for your fish and chips. Re: Help with Pool Scum 6Jan 23, 2011 2:04 pm Thanks for the help everyone kek - unfortunately fencing doesn't even keep my neighbours away. Ho hum. Vinegar unfortunately didn't work, the scum was way too thick and old and disgusting so we actually had to use hydrochloric acid to burn those buggers away. And now we have a clean and pretty pool!
