Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Nov 29, 2010 12:06 pm Hi guys and girls, I'm planning on building a pergola with a pitched roof gable's at both end. size would be 3.6 wide and 5.0 long, will have colourbond and laserlite on roof. I'm thinking of using some 150 by 150 posts in each corner. Will 300 by 45 f17 span 5 metres? and also will that be ok to use as a ridge beam?. Thanks in advance for your help Re: pergola question 2Dec 11, 2010 10:11 am The ridge beam cam be the same size as your timbers from ridge to outer beam. usally 140x45 F7 or make the ridge 190x45 F7. The 5 mtr spans should be ok with 300x45 F17 or you could use 190x45 with a steel channel on the back of it. I have 3 6 mtr spans on my pergola and these were enginnered to be ok 190x45 with 150x75x5 duragal channel. Is there a building permit? RU in Victoria? What is the value of the building contract? 1 4760 About a year ago, I embarked on a DIY project to construct an outdoor Pergola, which measures approximately 5.2 meters by 4.0… 0 24860 i think option 2 is much better with easy access to the garden without having to walk through the new sunroom which makes it a better room for guests and TV .a simple… 2 5183 |
