Enamel coating tends not to work too well on BBQ plates as they get banged up a bit more than in your kitchen(mine do anyway) Cast Iron will absorb all of the flavors (and odors) of the food you cook and it will transfer into the next thing you cook . Not good if you like to BBQ fish. I looked at some mild steel plates for my cooktop in our new kitchen, they were recommended by a specialist appliances center. I'd go either Mild Steel or Stainless if you plan on cooking fish.
