Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Oct 05, 2010 3:51 pm Well, I'm just finishing up some designs (to scale) of our new 'outdoor area + pool'. Here is a picture I found which will be VERY similiar to what we're trying to achieve: http://www.metricon.com.au/queensland/h ... mages#2651 At the moment we basically just have a concrete slab (where the decking is in the above picture) and some grass (where the pool is in the above picture). The one thing my wife and I are really struggling to decide on is whether we CONTINUE the decking (will be using Wood Composite Decking) out under the Glass Pool Fencing and around the pool (like in the picture). Or do we end the decking at the glass fence and use tiles (something like granite, travertine etc.) around the pool. What are peoples thoughts??????????? We keep changing our mind Also.... We really like the feature wall behind the pool and I was thinking of making one up myself - similiar to what this smart cookie did in the thread below: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12776&hilit=extenders My question is, if I did this, would the pool builders be able to add a water feature (waterfall cascade into my pool) to my wall (blue board)? Or should I scrap the wall idea and just get the generic water feature cascades that companies offer? Thoughts welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Re: Opinions needed - Outdoor Area + Pool (nearly finished s 2Oct 05, 2010 4:31 pm dont know, but that pic is YUMMY!! Re: Opinions needed - Outdoor Area + Pool (nearly finished s 3Oct 06, 2010 9:44 am Definitely looks good...I actually think the darker coloured decking looks ok. We were leaning towards the jarrah colour but now I'm not so sure. So, any other thoughts? Re: Opinions needed - Outdoor Area + Pool (nearly finished s 4Oct 07, 2010 6:02 am If the area around the pool is fairly small as in pic would continue deck, will make area seem larger. With water feature would build from brickwork not blue board, pool plumber would leave pipe work if you specify. Would recommended separate pump the water feature so it is separate to filter operation Landscape Design & Construction http://cherub.squarespace.com/ CDC Housing Code 3 When to apply Floor Area external face of wall vs Gross Floor Area internal face of wall.
