We had it cut into large format tiles and then laid travertine tiles in a french pattern in the seating area to differentiate the space. I actually vacuum the limestone off in the dry parts (easier than sweeping) and hose it down on the wet part if it gets dirty. We used to have concrete but it was extremely hot and the kids constantly cut their toes on sharp stones sticking up (it was pretty old).
