Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Sep 05, 2010 9:28 pm Gday all, We are currently in the process of getting our contract drawn up. We did alot of research and have made most decisions about stuff to go in the house, we really wanted to have a good idea of costs so there are no surprises. The house will have a fairly large decked area, the look we are after is dark reddish timber (similar to jarrah or merbau). However when initially speaking to the builder he suggested staining treated pine to cut costs. Personally i prefer the look of hardwood, for plenty of reasons i have already seen on the forum, but the builder says all hardwoods bleed, and continue to do so. My question is, do they after the first 6 months or so?? And, do you need to retreat pine as you would with hardwood? Sorry for the lengthy post, cheers for any suggestions! Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10971 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15908 Use a product like Equisol's Vitalise to clean the deck then coat with a penetrating timber oil. It will look 10 years younger and add value to your home. Visit for… 1 15794 |
