Browse Forums Outdoor Living Re: Our pool journey begins 21Sep 01, 2010 9:41 am I love a good photo story myself, I am addicted to looking at everyones photos on H1. All the work so far has been done in a week, they should be turning up today about 10.30am to pour the concrete. We will be putting in a couple of vegie gardens in most prob use the colourbond tank style they have in bunnings. But we have so much work to do in the backyard, but we had to wait to get the pool shell in to get all levels that we need to work with. Cheers Lou http://take2-customdesigndownslope.blogspot.com 07-10-09 omg they have cut the block 14-05-10 we finally have the keys Re: Our pool journey begins 23Sep 01, 2010 1:09 pm Hi Lou, I was just reading through your post, we have just started the process of building an 8x4 concrete pool on a sloping block with 3 sides out of the ground. I presume it will look pretty much the same as yours. It is great to see your photos and get an idea of how our pool will look! Our plans are being drawn up at the moment. Hope the concrete pour goes well today! Sonya Re: Our pool journey begins 24Sep 02, 2010 10:21 pm I could not believe it they said they would be here at 10.30am to pour the concrete and they turned up at 10.25am that would have to be one of the first times during this journey that tradies have turned up on time. Well 4 hours, 4 concreters and 4 concrete trucks later we have the pool shell. It was fascinating to watch in come together, the boys made it look so easy. Instead of pimping the concrete down from the front of the block, they brought it in under the rear fence. Re: Our pool journey begins - we have a shell 30Sep 10, 2010 8:17 pm How exciting it all is. We have just completed our concrete pool and everything progressed rapidly but the curing and finishing seemed to take forever! We are now waiting for landscapers to come in and do the paving next week (they have concreted) and then we sit and wait, wait, wait for some warm weather to hit us here in Melbourne. Ours is also an 8x4 but a straight edge kidney type shape. Re: Our pool journey begins - we have a shell 31Sep 10, 2010 8:38 pm Still playing the waiting game at the moment waiting for the concrete to cure and trying to get quotes for fencing usual story called 3 companys for a quote and not one has got back to me, I glad to see they are all so busy . The form work has come off the shell, and with this rain we have water in the pool . So if anyone has any recommendations for pool fencing in brisbane/ipswich would love to here them. Also a good bobcat opperator would be handy have a bit of leveling and shaping to do. Back to the frustration elusive tradie.... [quote][Lucky to be able to watch that all happening! First quote came back for the electrician at $2000, I think I will use this time to get a few more. Pool fencing has come in at $100 per meter installed. So we just have to sit back and watch the pool fill with water until it stops raining. I just realise where you guys are I have driven past those netball courts a number of times we had friends who live a few streets down until they decided to move to Samford (not so handy to get to) nice spot, one of the few area I would move back to if I wanted to be closer to the city. Your pool looks great! Can you give me some idea of the cost of something like that? We have a sloping site and trying to get ideas of budget $$ required. Re: Our pool journey begins - we have a shell 39Sep 29, 2010 10:18 pm Mr & Mrs M Hi there Lou. Your pool looks great! Can you give me some idea of the cost of something like that? We have a sloping site and trying to get ideas of budget $$ required. The just the pool is approx $31 000, we did allow for $2500 in piering but we didn't need it because we hit some rock. Electrical is approx $1500, then you have pool fencing $4000, then landscaping which we are going to do in stages to spread the cost, so to stage one we are looking at about $40 000, omg things add up fast Cheers Lou http://take2-customdesigndownslope.blogspot.com 07-10-09 omg they have cut the block 14-05-10 we finally have the keys Re: Our pool journey begins - we have a shell 40Sep 30, 2010 7:25 am Thanks Lou. Did you find they charged you extra to have the pool out of the ground like that? Did they give you an indication of how much extra that added? What is going to be the final finish on your pool?
