Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Jun 23, 2010 1:42 pm Our portico entrance is looking rather boring as we only have a concrete slab. We would like to tile it but we are uncertain what colour tile to use. Has anyone got photos of their portico entrances so that we can get some ideas on what to do with ours. TIA berries4eva Re: Portico Entrance Ideas? 2Jun 24, 2010 12:33 pm so many views but no replies??? Surely someone can help here?? Re: Portico Entrance Ideas? 3Jun 24, 2010 1:22 pm viewtopic.php?f=15&t=26913 There are some photos of our portico. We have a dark charcoal / black tile on our portico - which was chosen to match the tile inside the foyer (identical tile just one is outside grade and one internal grade). It also tones in with our concrete drive / stackstone and roof colour. IMHO you need to tone in with your bricks / windows / roof / render colours - so what are these? Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Portico Entrance Ideas? 4Jun 24, 2010 1:25 pm our entry is concrete too, but our house isn't on a slab, we had ours built on steel stumps. There will be 2 or 3 steps to door. We are leaving our concrete plain but i'm thinking rather than tiles, you could always paint it. I've seen some great colours and you can have the textured ones too so it isn't slippery if it gets wet. Sorry i have no pics yet, not quite up to that part yet. Re: Portico Entrance Ideas? 5Jun 24, 2010 3:53 pm Thanks so much for your replies Kyton: your house looks great! i love the tiles you have chosen - its simple but looks stunning....the previous owners of our home had an infatuation with the colour white. Our house is bagged in white, white colorbond roof, the tiles are white with swirls of light grey...we're hesitant to put a similar white tile in our portico entrance as everything is already white or white-ish. Not sure what other colour we can put in that will work with the white colour scheme. mishka: We never thought of painting it....hmm...I'll try to see if I can google some images of it.... Re: Portico Entrance Ideas? 7Jun 25, 2010 9:38 am I agree with kyton about coordinating the colour and material with the other elements of the facade and entry. You haven't mentioned your windows or front door, and what about driveway or paths? Any colours or materials there that you can match or complement? Ours is decked (over the concrete), which goes with our timber windows and door frame. Re: Portico Entrance Ideas? 8Jun 25, 2010 10:52 am Hi Kek, Before I posted this post, I did a search and found a photo of your portico entrance...its lovely....ive even seen the transformation of your backyard......all i can say about that is 'WOW' ....i love what u have done!!!.... as for our place, the window frames is white aluminium with white timber blinds...the front door is made of medium grained wood and at the entrance there are 2 pillar type things and they are a deep blue colour......i probably need to take a photo this weekend to show u what i mean.... Re: Portico Entrance Ideas? 9Jun 25, 2010 10:58 am We're using Chinese black slate 600x300 tiles in portico. Unfortunately it hasn't been done yet so I don't have pictures. Re: Portico Entrance Ideas? 11Jun 25, 2010 3:46 pm berries4eva may i ask: are the colour of your tiles inside your entrance door similar in colour to the chinese black slate tiles you have chosen for your portico or did u go for a full contrast? We're having natural coloured bamboo flooring in the entrance way so it's quite a contrast. Second the aluminium powdercoat 6 18194 I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters. If… 1 6150 |
