Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 May 14, 2010 8:34 pm Hi
I am in the process of designing/making a naked flame fire pit/lamp for the garden. I have yet to make a decision as to whether it will be a fixed feature of the garden or whether it should be something that can be brought out in summer and put away in winter. I have three ideas in mind. 1, Fixed fire pit feature. 2, Semi-portable chiminea/fire bowl. 3, Multiple portable lamps/lanterns. Has anyone already attempted something like this before? If so, do you have any suggestions or even if you haven't all and any comments are welcome. Thanks Chris As another thought trail, if I were to go for the smaller, ultra portable lamps, does anyone have suggestions for the type of fuel to use? I have read about bio-fueled vegetable oil lamps, but haven't got much experience with them. Originally I was thinking of the paraffin lamps that were around about 20 years ago, but i can't imagine that the kerosene paraffin would be doing much good to the environment. Re: Outdoor Lighting/heating 2May 14, 2010 8:45 pm A few years ago I bought a two piece chiminea and during the summer tend to move it back against the wall or sometimes put a potted plant in the chimney. While it has only been used a couple of times, due to a builder making the laserlite roof over the pergola too low and me being worried it would catch fire, I know it will be used heaps once the new house is finished. Any of your ideas would be nice, imho and a good conversation piece as well as providing some warmth.
