Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Mar 23, 2010 12:49 pm Has anyone researched built-in BBQ's and is able to give me any advice/product recommendations? It's for a 4x6m covered entertaining area. Did you get LPG and convert to plumbed natural gas, or are there NG models available? Did you get a rangehood and why? I think we will need one as the area is undercover but would like to hear what others have done. Also, if you have an "outdoor room", what other features do you have there - eg sink, dishwasher, bar fridge, fans, downlights - and what do you love the best? Re: Built-in BBQ & outdoor room 2Mar 23, 2010 1:30 pm Have done several BBQ settings from natural stone as part of a patio/outdoor room area. A couple of the jobs the clients bought their chosen BBQ from a dedicated store as the dimensions were needed before construction, how to set it in etc. You can buy NG dedicated models which is better as you need to change the jets on the LPG ones to suit the different gas. Work's out cheaper too, the larger bottles are getting close to $30 per refill now using LPG. Just make sure you get conduit or piping installed first so there is access to connect the gas line to the bbq when ready, same with any services needed for basins, taps, sinks etc. Planned Landscape Constructions http://www.plannedlandscape.com.au Find us on facebook http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id= ... 9907611509 Re: Built-in BBQ & outdoor room 3Mar 23, 2010 3:13 pm We are still finalising our build but in our Outdoor Room which is off our Pool House/Entertainment Room we are having a fully self sufficient kitchen because it's not attached to the rest of the house and our kitchen in the main house is upstairs so don't want to have to go back to the main house for things. So this is what we're having in the outdoor room which is 6mx9m; Double Fridge with ice-maker Double sink Dishwasher Electrolux Integrated BBQ with slim line lid 1 x double ring gas burner Pizza Oven Microwave oven There will be fans and downlights in the ceiling of the outdoor room. Can't tell you how it all works yet but hopefully we will love spending time down there. Edited to add yes we will have a rangehood ____________________________ Bec ____________________________ Building our Balinese Resort Inspired Dream Home Blog ~ http://hagarshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Built-in BBQ & outdoor room 5Mar 23, 2010 9:05 pm hi guys, we have an outdoor kitchen in our alfesco. I don't think it is worth what we paid, when I planned it, I thought I'd save us thousands buying bits n pieces here and there (ebay etc), but in the end, specially after tradesmans fees, it's really become very expensive, perhaps all up it's cost us nearly $3,000. Here's the list: - custom made kitchen cabinets approx 3m long (incl 4 drawers). - built in bbq (with no lid - don't ask - bad purchase on my part!!!) - house connected gas - 1.5 sink - bar fridge and no rangehood, but it really needs one, I just don't want to spend any more $$$ out there. we used the bbq for the first time a couple of weeks ago, we realise now, that we need to have all doors to the alfresco open!! that's all I'll say on that matter!!! but it's so handy having a sink out there - who knew!!! we also have a pizza oven out there! (still to use that too!!!) A thankful person is a happy person. All have used Beefeater BBQ's of varying sizes. Some of them were run on natural gas and some still used bottles. When I build mine I'll probably just used bottle gas as I don't think we will even have gas to our house. I'd definitely recommend a good quality extraction system, particularly if your alfresco is quite enclosed. A sink is a definite must, you don't realise how much you use them. Most have installed fridges but it's not totally necessary. Really just depends on how much you want to spend and how often you''l be using the area. This is one of the jobs I did. They had a Beefeater BBQ with side wok burner. I am confused because I see a lot of people have their built in BBQ sit on top of kitchen cabinets, how is that going to comply with the 450mm clearance on all sides? chippy I've built quite a few outdoor kitchens for clients. We had one installed in our alfresco. Move about 5* as much air as your conventional kitchen rangehood and as the motors are up on the roof it's a lot quieter as well. Thanks for letting us know.
