decking over grano?

just quick question our sales rep suggested we put grano under alfresco if we wanted to deck it. he said you can bolt joist staight onto the grano. Is this possible or should we just leave alfresco as sand and do the usual way ?

just realized i might get more help under the right topic hehe

That depends on the aspect of the area...(direction)
If it is useful to have it as a solid surface your solar gain heat, or cool will help or hurt you
If it will gain too much heat.. say on a western side, might be better to be timber.

the alfresco is facing north easterly.
Just wasnt sure if drainage with grano would be a problem would you need a gap under joist or bolt straight to grano?, sorry very confused.

North east is morning light...
It will be a good place to be on a winters morning...
I might be inclined to concrete it at the right height...

So long as there isn't a fence there.

If you take into consideration the falls required then no it shouldn't be.
Since I haven't seen the area I have no idea if there are any logical reason.

we just werent sure if builder wanted to make money out of us.
here is my thread with plans if you could take a look it would be great. we assumed we would use stumps but the rep suggested grano, suppose it would stop weeds

Hmmm I don't think I can give you an answer.
Either finish would be fine, but I just question the 2 different media to do the job.
Timber isn't my forte.
Maybe someone else can put forward their ideas.

My consultant and supervisor both suggested we put grano as well, so that after build we could put decking. (more expensive through builder).

Then we used the supplied pavers for other places instead.
