Hi,
I have an equipotential earthing question for any pool pro's out there. In the latest AS3000 it states there is now a requirement to earth every metalic item in sight in pool zones 1, 2 and 3, including rebar, fencing, diving boards, lighting, ladders, water inlet rings and even copper mesh layed under tiles. It seems this gives the RCD greater sensitivity to a fault, as all these earths are bonded exclusively to the single pool supply earth - any leakage from any items from that single circuit, and the RCD comes to your rescue.
My question is, what happens if, during a windy night say, my neutral supply to the house comes off? Does this mean, thanks to the neutral bond to earth at my fuse box, that active will return its path through my pool, as I am sure it will be a lower impedance than my earth stake at the fuse box? I havent been able to find in AS3000 that an earth stake for the pool is required, but I cant help but feel it might be a good idea. Earthing for pools has gotten quite complex since I last looked (which was none!)
Any corrections, opinions, idea's much appreciated.
Steve
