Browse Forums Outdoor Living Re: Pool Maintenance cost 2Feb 19, 2010 12:37 pm In the pool I have now (fibre glass with pool cover - no heating) there is really no big expense. I have the pool guys come out once a year to test everything, clean and get it ready for summer - on average it costs me around $300.00 for that service - that includes any chemicals that I need, filter, pump and chlorinator checked and cleaned. In summer I run the filter with what they recommend for my pool (holds 55,000 litres) which is 6 hours per day - 3 hours in morning, 3 hours in the evening. This keeps my pool chemicals normal. I test the pool, every week and obviously when the kids are swimming the filter goes on. Apart from the added electricity to the quarterly bill - on top of these expenses I might have to buy some salt during the year - again on average only costing around $50 - $80 and top up the pool testing kit - and thats it. Edit: Sorry forgot to add, the electricity bill will vary in the summer months - again it depends on how often the filter is running - generally speaking its probably only $100 more during the warmer months of the year (based on a quarterly a/c) The last home I lived in didn't have a pool and when i went to sell it the agents were not happy, even telling me to put one in to sell the place.
