Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Feb 16, 2010 8:21 am We are renovating our house near the beach and want to include an outdoor shower which will be plumbed into mains water. Have looked for shower head etc but am being told that most will rust. Where do I find a shower head that will not rust?? If I find shower head plumber should be able to provide rest. Happy for it to look rustic. Have seen copper in a magazine. Should we go copper or marine grade stainless??? What do we get and where?? Re: Outdoor shower 5Oct 13, 2010 2:58 pm Hi Can u pls let me know if the outddor shower also needs to have a hot water supply? Re: Outdoor shower 6Oct 20, 2010 4:23 pm Hot water for an outdoor shower would be a preference of the owner. Beach house of a friend of mine is cold only. Would be nice sometimes to have hot water, but it really is only to wash the sand off Re: Outdoor shower 7Oct 25, 2010 4:32 pm HI, we are in a marine environment too, and have an outside shower right by the canal water edge. We have just used the same fittings that were installed for the inside showers (our builders standard range). I was researching about marine grade stainless steel outdoor showers and decided to wait and see how these fair. I am pleased to say they have no pitting what so ever. They have been there for at least 18 months. However, our al fresco lighting does show pitting and they are about 2 metres further back than the shower. If cost is a factor, try the same ones as inside the house ... I will post a photo later of ours. Also, a tip ... we were told to spray the outside steel with a coating of oil .. we got the heavy duty spray can oil for marine environment from BCF in a can ($12.95) or you can use the spray on fish oil stuff too (the lighting people told us this tip) Also, we have the hot water piped to it aswell as the cold. http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu350/davdenwa/25October2010022.jpg Re: Outdoor shower 8Oct 27, 2010 11:30 am This is a girlie question i'm sure, Is/can the shower be run/connected off an outdoor taps piping. Or does the piping have to be layed/planned for during the build! Told ya it was a girlie question cheers Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper! I think if you want cold water and there is a tap nearby, with a bit of work ... depending on it's location and what is around it, you could connect a cold water shower from that. HOt water may be trickier and would probably be cheaper, easier if done during the build. Re: Outdoor shower 10Nov 08, 2010 3:36 pm Hi Goodyear, We just completed our outdoor shower near the pool. Went for the hot and cold option as teenagers and grandparents get picky! We are putting in an outdoor shower too, definitely with hot water as we sometimes get home from the beach late in the afternoon and need a hot shower, we are also thinking of putting in a foot tap for our sandy feet if we don't need a full shower. What did you end up doing in the end with regards to the shower head? Did you get an indoor one or found one specifically for outdoors? Re: Outdoor shower 17May 25, 2012 11:39 pm Just an update, we put in our outdoor shower in December, hot and cold and used an indoor shower head, not sure how it will last but fine so far. Just makes such a difference coming home from the beach and quick shower before going in the house. So glad we did it! Re: Outdoor shower 18Jun 22, 2012 4:31 pm Thats cool Laila, any photo's?
