Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Feb 05, 2010 7:32 pm We have a small balcony (3.5m x 2.5m) open on one side which I have decked with Freedom Timber Decking Tiles edged with treated pine decking timber. The rest of the unit has floorboards which have been treated with Feast Watson's "Black Japan" stain mixture(7xblack:3xteak Prooftint) followed by two coats of Polyurethane varnish (should have been 2-pack I know). Since we can now use the balcony as an extension of the living room (especially with the bifolds folded back) we want to stain the balcony the same colour but I'm unsure about varnishing an area which is exposed to some direct sun (mainly in winter) and some rain (if it blows from the NE like it has this week). Would it be better to mix the FW stain with FW Decking Oil (colour?) or another decking-specific product?
