Here in Geelong I have seen some houses having their pergola offset by 1.0m from the fence line, then others 170mm off the fenceline.... Our house garage is on the boundary and we wanted to follow the same line as it would look silly having this 1.0m no use area? Your thoughts?? We have our garage wall on boundary too and we have a pergola at side of house right up to the boundary - we had to have those inset gutters so it doesnt overhang (same as garage does) and had to get a council form signed by owner of neighbouring house to say they did not object to it being built on boundary. The council will have regulations about building materials able to be used when constructing right up to or close to the boundary. Most councils websites will have the form as a printable pdf download. They are also pretty good with helping on the phone... usually i think option 2 is much better with easy access to the garden without having to walk through the new sunroom which makes it a better room for guests and TV .a simple… 2 8282 Is there a building permit?
