Enough time to get it right, without it being to early for the neighbors to arc up about. ROTFL!!! I always thought no earlier than December 1st too - well install them but you can't flick the switch 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Last year I bought an optical fibre christmas tree so I don't have to worry about putting lights on the tree Not sure if I will put anything out the front of the house 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Louis Pasteur Vegie garden: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=27637&start=0 My Backyard Adventure Re: When are you supposed to put up Xmas lights? 14Nov 14, 2009 3:09 pm I would say 1st December. At my parents place my sister and i sometimes had them up on 25th November. I must say that this didn't matter so much as my parents lived on a farm & they didn't care as long as we were the ones to put them up and pull them down. The truck drivers used to appreciate it and sometimes beep their horns We always went and cut down a pine tree together. We never got that til a few days before christmas or else it would die! I think the rule is turn them on 1st dec and turn them off & packed up by new years eve. Most ppl have them on for a few days after chrissy to make the most of it. I wouldn't go any earlier than Nov 25 (a month b4). My Husband's family don't put anything up till Dec 15 as my hubby's Bday is Dec 14th. When he was little he used to think everyone had forgotten his birthday if the decos went up before his birthday came. Now it is a tradition in their family to wait til after his bday, even if he's 25 now! Now my dilemma (as our first christmas together approaches) is when to put everything up and what new traditions we are going to add!! plan,block,contract:8-9/2009 Land settle & FHOG$:15/2/2010 Site start:19/5 Slab:4/6 Frames&Trusses:11/6 Roof,windows:24/6 Bricks:1-5/7 Gyprock:14-16/7 Kitchen!,garage door:5/8 Driveway,verandah,tank:2/9 Paint:17-23/9 Tiles!!:15-20/10 Kitchen&bathroom appliances,blinds:22/10 Carpet:8/11My blog: http://buildingbug.blogspot.com Re: When are you supposed to put up Xmas lights? 15Nov 21, 2009 10:56 pm i saw the first christmas lights for the season last sunday night (15th of November!!!!) I was taught traditionally you dont take them down until after the 12th day of xmas so that's one reason why some people still have decorations and lights up after new years and through the first week of January. Re: When are you supposed to put up Xmas lights? 17Nov 22, 2009 5:38 am Any time in Novemeber is perfectly acceptable IMHO My tree is up and most of the little ornaments as well. I love christmas so the earlier the better I say When we put up the tree last week, it made me feel so happy that even a crap day at work didnt damper my spirits because I came home to my beautiful white sparkling, glittering tree Mrs B Re: When are you supposed to put up Xmas lights? 19Nov 22, 2009 8:54 pm Howie Easy in Adelaide... unwritten rule is after the annual Adelaide Christmas Pageant Yes I was going to say, after the pageant That's when I decorate the office at work to Re: When are you supposed to put up Xmas lights? 20Nov 23, 2009 6:13 pm We are suppose to put on Christmas lights by December 1. This is the time most people also do that. But I've noticed that others do have since first week of November. Definitely there's no exact time when to put on Christmas lights.
